Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of the Munchi app. They include important limits on what Munchi can promise, especially about food safety and allergies, so please read that section carefully.

Allergies and food safety. Munchi identifies food from photos using automated recognition, and it filters recipes using the restrictions you enter. Both can be wrong. It may misidentify an ingredient, miss one entirely, or fail to catch an allergen inside a recipe or a packaged product.

Never rely on Munchi to keep you safe from an allergen or intolerance. Always read the actual packaging and check every ingredient yourself before cooking or eating. If you have a severe allergy, treat Munchi’s output as a suggestion to verify, never as confirmation.

Munchi also estimates how long food has left. Those estimates are approximate and do not account for how the food was stored or handled. Use your own judgement about whether food is safe to eat.

Accepting these terms

By downloading or using Munchi you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Munchi is provided by Ilium Studio (“we”).

What Munchi does

You photograph the inside of your fridge. Munchi identifies the food, builds a pantry with freshness estimates, and suggests recipes you can cook from what you already have, filtered by the preferences and restrictions you set. It also maintains a shopping list and estimates the food waste you have avoided.

Not medical or nutritional advice

Munchi is a cooking tool, not a health service. Recipes, macros, portions, and savings figures are estimates for general information only. They are not medical, dietary, or nutritional advice, and they are not a substitute for a qualified professional. Talk to a doctor or a registered dietitian before making decisions about your health.

Subscriptions and billing

Munchi offers one free fridge scan during onboarding. Continued access to scanning and the features built on it requires a paid subscription.

  • Subscriptions are offered on a recurring basis. The exact plan name, length, and price are shown on the purchase screen in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account at confirmation of purchase.
  • You can manage or cancel in your device account settings: on iOS in Settings, then your Apple Account, then Subscriptions; on Android in the Google Play Store under Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies, not by us.
  • If we change the price, you will be told in advance and asked to agree before it takes effect.

Your photos and content

The photos you take stay yours. You grant us only the licence we need to run the service: to store your images, send them to our recognition provider to identify food, and display them back to you in the app. We do not use your photos for advertising, and we do not publish them.

Do not upload photos that contain other people without their agreement, or anything unlawful.

Recipe content

Recipes come from third-party providers and from automated generation. We do not guarantee that any recipe is accurate, complete, safe, or suitable for you. Cooking times, temperatures, and quantities should be checked against your own judgement and equipment.

Acceptable use

  • Do not reverse engineer, scrape, or resell the service or its content.
  • Do not use it to break the law or to infringe anyone else’s rights.
  • Do not attempt to interfere with the service or access other people’s data.

Your account and ending things

You can delete your account and all associated data from inside the app at any time, in Settings. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken. Any active subscription still needs cancelling through Apple or Google.

Availability

We do not promise the service will always be available or error free. We may change or discontinue features. Munchi depends on third-party services, and those can fail or change.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and our total liability arising from your use of Munchi is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Apple and Google

Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for Munchi. They have no obligation to provide support for it. Where you obtained the app from Apple, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Your use must also comply with the applicable app store terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version, and material changes will be notified in the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — confirm before launch], and disputes will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction, without affecting mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence.
